About
We meet weekly at The Commons Cafe & Taproom, Wednesdays 6pm. (See the MeetUp for changes.)
The Club
We are a casual club that meets to play Chess & Go. We meet one evening per week at a fun, lively (and seasonal) venue with access to food & drink. The Club runs an optional month-long Quads competition but most games played at the Club are casual. The result is a thriving, light-hearted Club with a strong competitive streak.

Join the Club
Many new members want to sign-up to Quads immediately but there’s a non-cometitive side to the game too! Before signing-up to Quads you’ll be encouraged to attend a few club-nights settle into the Club and see if it’s for you.
- Join the MeetUp so that you get notified of cancellations etc.
- Attend a club-night and play some games!
- Once at the club, join our Discord & Mailing list (details at venue) to keep up-to date!
The Venues
The Bend Chess & Go Club exists because of the generosity of our hosts:
- Venue: The Commons Cafe & Taproom Wednesdays, 6pm, join us for Chess & Go by the river at our Summer venue.
- Crux Fermentation Project is our Winter venue and hosts our Quad-Seasons October-thru-June.
What to expect
Boards, pieces & clocks are provided! Look for others, introduce yourself and challenge someone to a game! It’s a no-pressure, unrated, relaxed meetup where you can sit down and play anyone. Food & drink is usually accessible either through local vendors or the venue itself.
Quads
Quads run over the full month and are not one-night events. As such, we suggest that only regular members sign-up for Quads.
Please speak to Dean about joining Quads. There is a sign-up sheet available for members on club-nights.
Staff
We have organizers, captains & deputies. We work together to promote the success of the club.
Officers
The club has organizers who manage the club day-to-day. We have two Club Captains, one for Chess and one for Go - the Captains drive engagement for each game at the club. The organizer manages relationships with venues while the Web Officer handles online relationship & media.
